Since it’s Thursday we decided to share this video of our girls over at The Real. The ladies posed this question: How long should sex last?
What is considered the “normal” amount of time for sex? Is it 2 minutes or 30 minutes?
According to a 2008 survey therapists, women revealed that sex is “too short” when it last one to two minutes. A “sufficient” amount of time would be three to seven minutes and “desirable” is seven to thirteen. However, 30 minutes was considered way to long.
GQ reports: “In a 2008 study in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, sex therapists said intercourse that lasted 1-2 minutes was “too short,” 3-7 minutes was “adequate,” 7-13 minutes was “desirable,” and 10-30 was “too long” (interesting that there’s some overlap between their opinions on “desirable” and “too long”). But a 2004 study in the Journal of Sex Research that did actually include foreplay found that on average, people were indulging in 11-13 minutes of foreplay followed by 7-8 minutes of intercourse, which sounds positively luxurious compared to the previous numbers.”
70% of woman revealed that in a perfect world sex (not including foreplay) would last more than 10 minutes. While the some say they like it to go on and on for more than 25 minutes, according to Cosmopolitan.
