Janet Jackson Makes History & Stands for #MeToo at Billboard Music Awards [VIDEO]

Janet Jackson was honored last night (May 20) at the Billboard Music Awards. The music icon made history as the first black woman to receive the Billboard Music  Icon Award.

Right before accepting her award, she took the stage for the first time in 9 years, performing a medley of classics. Jackson made it clear during her speech that not only is she relying on her faith more than ever but, she will no longer be controlled, manipulated or abused.

“I believe that for all the challenges – all of our challenges – we live at a glorious moment in history. It’s a moment when at long last women have made it clear we will no longer controlled, manipulated or abused. I stand with those women and with those men equally outraged;by those who support us in heart and mind.”
